Prof. Marcelo Machado Fernandes (PhD) is passionate about empowering professionals to achieve operational excellence. He believes that the combination of science, creativity, and simplicity is the foundation for sustainable improvement and lasting business success.

An Electrical Engineer from UNIFEI, Marcelo holds both a Master’s degree (UNIFEI) and a PhD in Production Engineering (UNESP). With more than 25 years of international experience across manufacturing and service industries, he has led and coached over 500 Lean Six Sigma projects in more than 50 countries throughout Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America. He has trained over 150,000 White, Yellow, Green, Black, and Master Black Belts representing more than 100 nationalities.

Throughout his career, Marcelo has received numerous awards for Lean Six Sigma excellence at Philips, Delphi Automotive Systems, and Nielsen. He served as a Black Belt at Philips Displays, a Master Black Belt at Delphi Automotive Systems, and a Global Lean Six Sigma Consultant at Nielsen.

At Nielsen, Marcelo designed and deployed the company’s global continuous improvement program, which was recognized by the International Quality and Productivity Center (IQPC) as the Second Best Continuous Improvement Program in the World during OPEX Week USA. He was awarded the prestigious Mario Csillag Medal by the Brazilian Academy for Quality in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of quality and operational excellence.

Today, Marcelo is an ASQ Certified Master Black Belt, a Minitab Certified Training Provider, and the founder of MF Treinamentos, where he has helped more than 150,000 professionals from over 100 countries accelerate their careers through world-class Lean Six Sigma, Design for Six Sigma, and AI education.
